University
The jump from A-Level maths to university can be daunting, and often first-year students struggle. If you need help with a specific module or you’ve found there’s a gap in your skillset following the move to degree-level maths, I can help. We’ll work together to make sure that you’re up-to-date with the knowledge you need to impress your lecturers. Alternatively, if you’ve found there’s an area of maths you’d like to explore further and want to work on it in your spare time, I’ll help you learn in a relaxed, creative way to make sure you understand everything you want to. I can also help with related fields, such as people studying accounting, business, and finance degrees, as well as for engineers and pharmaceutical students requiring a maths refresher course.
For students at the University of Sunderland, Newcastle University, or Northumbria University, I can help with in-person tuition and also offer online maths lessons. Get in touch to enquire today.
Adult Numeracy
Specific jobs such as nursing, pharmaceutical, and teaching require a base-level of mathematical understanding, and I can help to bring everyone to that point and beyond. If you need to take a proficiency test in maths but haven’t done it since school, we can work out a course together to see what skills you need and then make sure that you understand maths as well as you need it. I also offer maths tuition for adults in Sunderland seeking to take official exams, such as the National Numeracy Test Level 2 and Maths GCSE. These can be crucial for employment and I’ll make sure you know the concepts behind the exam well enough to pass. I also offer courses on the numerical reasoning tests that companies such as Barclays, Aldi, and Lidl use in their employment process for graduate schemes.

F.A.Q.
Here are some of the most frequent questions parents and students have about tuition
Online tutoring is essentially teaching over the internet. It works almost exactly the same as ordinary tuition lesson except its Online using Skype, Zoom or Microsoft Teams – all lessons include use of an Online Whiteboard and other integrated software as necessary. I have an up-to-date enhanced DBS certificate and trustworthy references on request.
Students have tuition for a variety of reasons including: to supplement their schoolwork, improve their grade in a resit exam, when doing distance learning or home education and mature students wanting to change career.
The short answer is No. Private tuition can be a complement to education tuition. It can help a student cover gaps in learning, improve and challenge their current ability or simply as an extension to their education to keep them engaged and focused.
Sometimes I may ask you to purchase workbooks that are for your child’s use exclusively, and I may ask you to purchase stationery for your child to aid their organisation, learning or revision. Practice exam papers and tutorial lesson questions are provided.
maedutainment creates a structure between you the parent, the child and the tutor. My job is then to manage and nurture this relationship and ensure that I am focused not only on the syllabus goals, but also the student’s personal development. I believe that this structure keeps everyone working together to ensure the best outcomes for the student.
Most students have regular lessons at a predetermined time. Some have the occasional lesson. On average, most of the students have 1-2 lessons a week and some students increase this during exam period.
